Sub-Surface Buoys

Mooring Systems supplies subsurface buoys along with our superior designed frames that are dependable and resilient for mooring buoyancy or housing instrumentation.

Although adaptable to a wide range of instruments, a stainless steel frame, syntactic foam buoy and acoustic profiler are the three components of the acoustic profiler buoy designed and built by MSI. Syntactic foam provides the extremely tough, low maintenance flotation which is available for depths from  300 - 6000 meters. Our unrivaled frame and hardware ensure optimal instrument protection. In addition, with a mooring eye at the top and bottom, the unit can be used inline while positioning the profiler either looking up or down.  This thoroughly tested package is reliable and easy to handle and accommodates all shallow or deep water turnkey applications.

Standard Features

  • Syntactic Flotation
  • Type 316 Stainless Steel or Titanium
  • Electropolished and passivated frame construction
  • Unobstructed transducer beam patterns

Steel subsurface buoys constructed by Mooring Systems offer an economical alternative for shallow water flotation needs. These steel buoys are built to last and perform in the harsh offshore environment. A high tension bar within each sphere allows in-line placement for high load mooring systems with a tensile strength of 5000 lbs.  Deployment and recovery are made easy with convenient pad eyes.
